Regardless of their musical accomplishments, it’s deeply gratifying when someone chooses to make one of my instruments their own. It represents the closing of a circle, the culmination of a process that started with the selection of wood, on to the making and finishing of the instrument, perfecting the setup, and finally, to joining with that musician for a lifetime of music making. All is as it should be. When a leading musician makes that choice, I’ll admit, the sense of gratification and validation is amplified!
Eric Wyrick, has been Concertmaster of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra since 1998. He has worn many leadership hats as a member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra including Concertmaster, Artistic Director, and Musician Trustee. Wyrick has recorded some 60 CDs with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra under the Deutsche Gramophone label.
Eric is the newest owner of a violin by David Finck. Here’s what he has to say:
“I’ve had the chance to play a number of David’s violins and violas and they are delightful! They each have their own character and deliver power, quality, and depth. The violas were resonant and easy to produce sound evenly throughout the entirety of the instruments. After auditioning a violin I quickly perceived the excellent value of the instrument and purchased one for my household of three violinists. I attest that David produces consistently high level, professional quality instruments that are well worth a look.”
