An observer called the appearance of this violin “classic”. I loved hearing that. My goal for the appearance of this instrument was not to “antique” the finish, but to evoke warm feelings from the musician that picks it up; to convey the sense that this instrument has been played, treasured, even loved. I believe it has tonal characteristics to allow entry into many a violinist’s heart. It speaks easily, with a velvety feel under the bow. The voice has a narrower bandwidth than many of my instruments, while avoiding harshness, lending itself well to projection without being overpowering. The sound has a solid foundation played soft or loud. Well worth a look

The top is Engelmann spruce from Colorado. The back, neck, and sides are Bosnian maple. It is outfitted with dark, rosewood pegs and ebony chin-rest and tailpiece. The stock chin-rest and tailpiece were re-shaped to make them lighter and more elegant. The varnish is my oleo-resin recipe then French polished with a blend of Garnet and Kusmi shellacs. Model: inspired by “del Gesu” Guarneri’s 1743 “il Cannone”
